How Mediations Australia collects, uses, and protects your personal information.

Last updated: 1 August 2026

Mediations Australia Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access or correct it.

What personal information we collect

We may collect the following types of personal information:

  • Contact details — name, email address, phone number, and location
  • Enquiry details — a description of your dispute or matter provided through our website forms or by telephone
  • Booking and appointment information
  • Payment information (processed securely through third-party payment providers; we do not store card details)
  • Website usage data — pages visited, time on site, referral source, and device information, collected via analytics tools

We collect sensitive information only where you voluntarily provide it and have consented to us holding it for the purpose of delivering our mediation services.

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • complete an enquiry or booking form on our website
  • call or email us
  • attend a mediation session or consultation

We may also collect limited technical information automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you visit our website.

Why we collect it and how we use it

We collect and use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide our mediation services
  • schedule and manage appointments and sessions
  • send service-related communications (including confirmations and reminders)
  • comply with our legal obligations
  • improve our website and services

We will not use your personal information for direct marketing without your consent. If you have consented and wish to opt out, contact us at any time.

Disclosure to third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share it with:

  • Service providers — including our booking platform, form processing provider (Formspree), email infrastructure, and website analytics (Google Analytics). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may not use your information for their own purposes.
  • Our mediators and staff — who need it to deliver your services.
  • Regulatory or legal bodies — where required or authorised by law.

Some of our service providers are based overseas (including the United States). Where we disclose personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it in a manner consistent with the APPs.

Mediation confidentiality

All information disclosed in mediation sessions is confidential and without prejudice. It cannot be tendered as evidence in court or tribunal proceedings. This obligation applies to our mediators, our staff, and all parties to the mediation, and is governed by the National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS) standards and applicable law.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Access to personal information is limited to staff who need it to perform their roles.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law, and then securely destroy or de-identify it.

Access and correction

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached the APPs or this policy, please contact us in the first instance. We will investigate and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect site functionality.
